FRT installation guides & videos

Every Rare Breed FRT® is a true drop-in — no gunsmithing required. Follow the step-by-step videos below to install yours correctly and safely.

Before you begin

  • Make the firearm safe. Remove the magazine, visually and physically confirm the chamber is empty, and keep it pointed in a safe direction throughout.
  • Work on a clean, well-lit surface with room for small parts, and keep your pins and screws organized.
  • Use blue (medium-strength) Loctite on the anti-walk pin screws so they don’t back out, while still allowing future disassembly.
  • Run it dry. We recommend running the trigger dry after its factory lubrication; see the installation & maintenance FAQs for cleaning intervals.
  • Confirm fitment first. Some lowers (e.g. certain Colt models or lowers with a sear block/shelf) may not be compatible, check the compatibility FAQs if unsure.

Setup & tuning tips

Reliable cycling

An FRT relies on the firearm cycling consistently. Most rifles run as-is; some builds benefit from buffer & gas tuning.

Proprietary selector

Use only the selector included with your trigger. Standard or aftermarket 3-position selectors are not compatible.
